'Why am I here?'
Staring out at the vast plains of the Archylte Steppe, Lightning Farron, a former l'cie, current guardian of Etro – so it seemed – was not where she belonged. She remembered things, she remembered fighting Caius Ballad, she remembered stepping up and sitting on that throne of Etro's to preserve her sister's memory…and now…she was standing very much alive, awake, and confused. Why here? Why now? Who had brought her here? With narrowed blue eyes, Lightning clenched her fists tightly, folding her arms across her chest as she watched the animals carelessly wander around on their own. Some harmless, others would tear you to bits and pieces in an instant. She still didn't get it. What was going on…? If she was here and alive…did that mean…did that mean Serah could be alive somewhere too?
Frowning and drawing her gaze down towards the ground, the pinkette felt water prick at the corners of her eyes, thinking about her sister. She remembered seeing what would happen to Cocoon, what would happen to the new world and Pulse. What part of the timeline was she even in? It seemed like things were…normal, at least from the last time she was here. Valhalla had not combined with Pulse, but things still seemed so strange. The future she had seen was nothing like this,it had brought tears to her eyes before being chosen as Etro's champion. Blinking back the slight water beads that had formed in her eyes, Lightning cleared her face of emotion. There was hope starting to form in her heart again. A tiny spark, but that was enough to keep her going at the very least. "Serah…I'll find you, I'll set things right." She quietly spoke to herself, moving a hand to rest over her heart, where her l'cie brand had once been.
Looking ahead and staring at the plains once more, Lightning moved her arms to rest at her side, inching for her gunblade at any given time. It was strange to be wearing her old Guardian Corps uniform as well, especially having gotten used to that armor bestowed by Etro. Perhaps it was a Valhalla thing, but…for now she didn't care much for attire or weapons and what they looked like, she needed to find Serah…she needed to make sure her sister was safe and that the future would be safe as well. The horrible vision she had seen once before…may be it was a fluke…maybe there was a chance at normalcy.
Only time would tell for that one.
