However, while these traits do have a place in his real personality, much of his outward persona can perhaps be considered an intentional façade perfectly designed to cause those unfamiliar with him to underestimate his remarkable intelligence and ability. Mustang is an exceptional tactician, well-versed in various strains of combat theory and particularly talented in the realms of surreptitious information-gathering, covert operations and enemy ensnarement.
At the core, he is a remarkably devoted commander whose primary focus and personal duty is to his friends and subordinates. Though he hides it well behind a veil of cynicism and self-importance, Roy Mustang is a man who cares deeply about the people who trust and support him and goes to great lengths to ensure their safety and well-being, even at the risk of his own. Selective Targeting - His control of Flame Alchemy is so great he can target any part of a person including their eyes. (Same amount of damage as Fira but to a specific area.)
Rapid Fire Transmuting - Do to only needing to snap his fingers his attacks come almost one after another with out stopping. (Same amount of damage as four Fire spells chained together.)
Blood Transmutation Circle - A transmutation Circle drawn on the back of his hand in blood. A last resort if his gloves are destroyed. In this case has to tap the back of his hand with his opposite hand and usually uses a lighter with it. He doesn't have as much control with this method. (This is the same strength as four Firas chained as human blood increases the power of Alchemy.)
Ignition Cloth Gloves - These gloves along with his Alchemy circle make creating reactions or Transmuting much easier and faster as they Ignite the Carbon manoxide in the atmosphere creating a 'Spark' which is the start of all Flame Alchemy. (The gloves themselves do no damage but are essential to most of his techniques)

One day Roy Mustang was investigating a strange occurrence in Central having received reports for a month about something happening. No one seemed to know what exactly was going on so it fell to the General to investigate what it was. They probably would have solved everything by then if people's stories hadn't kept changing. However upon arriving at the site of these occurrences something strange happened a door seemingly made out of Fire appeared before Mustang and Hawkeye who had accompanied him. He pushed Hawkeye away as the door opened and went through alone. That was the last thing he remembered before awakening in Omphalos.
