Rune after hearing the explosions before figured he'd check into it. They had been a decent ways away and he had been...occupied at the time. But better to find out what was going on here. He still needed to find a god to serve under. Though, he wondered which if any would take him. Ice he had seen on the list, but.... he had a ton of ice based abilities and magic. It made him a perfect fit in that sense but... he needed to be more dynamic, more balanced. What had kept him alive all these years was not sticking to one method... but with some of his magic not working and all... the one thing he could rely on was ice, even with these new spells. He had no intention of getting himself killed, not unless he could drag himself out of whatever pit of hell he ended up in.
After a while of walking he came across an area of abandoned buildings, and then noticed that some had been damaged or fully demolished. He went closer and started to look for signs of what did this. The first thing he noticed on some of the remains was scorch marks. Obviously fire was a byproduct or the culprit. He then examined what he thought at first was ice. "Glass?" he said somewhat puzzled as he touched it. to turn all this into nothing but glass..... the temperature would be immense... what caused all this? he thought to himself.
That was when he felt the thud through the glass. He looked up and heard something coming from the forest, only to see three large creatures that reminded him of trolls from his world. All easily double a normals man height. He immediately went to one of the more powerful ice spells at his disposal and as the snowstorm blasted at them they seemed un-phased. "And there probably weak against the one spell I'm not sure I can use here." he said as they resumed lumbering closer. He decided to go with his next best set and took a moment to concentrate. Winds began circling him at first, then blowing past him and forming a large cyclone around the three, ripping up shards of glass and stone that began striking them. Though, one took something to the eye and swinging its club wildly struck one of the partially destroyed buildings causing the structure to collapse. Enveloped in the dust cloud Rune couldn't see anything as he pulled his hood back up to block the sun that was reflecting off bits of glass in the air. Though as the dust settled he felt something near him he saw a shadow in the thinning cloud and dodged as a giant club came down, but didn't expect the second strike. The monster swung it sideways after him and managed to catch him enough to get him airborne and tumble. "Faster then I thought and that'll leave a bruise." He said drawing his sword. He began Dodging strikes from the two at first but then the partially blinded third joined back in removing what few chances he had to attack himself. He spun, jumped, rolled, fliped, taking the one or two openings, but his strength wasn't enough to break their skin, and he had no time to cast a decent spell.
