Name ►: Vanitas
Age ►: Unknown
Gender ►: Male
Canon or OC ►: Canon
Sexual Orientation ►: Heterosexual
Race ►: Unversed
Group ►: Godless
Face Claim ►: N/A
Appearance ►:
General Personality ►:
As the "dark" half of Ventus's Heart, Vanitas was at first much like him. However, due to the suffering he endured by the hands of Master Xehanort, and his desperate desire for salvation, he became proud, cunning, and cruel in order to achieve enough strength to forge the χ-Blade with Ventus, believing that to be the salvation he desires. As such, the lives of others, including that of even Master Xehanort, hold absolutely no value to him, and he shows zero remorse for his actions. As a pragmatist, he will strike without a moment's thought, warning, or hesitation.
Despite his loyalty to Master Xehanort, he has no qualms with disregarding his orders if he feels the need arises.
He is also shown to be an uncaring, cold, and ruthless individual, having not the slightest sympathy for anyone but himself. Vanitas holds everything and everyone in contempt, and holds a great resentment against Ventus and the friends he has. The envy he feels against them is seen in his frequent criticizing of Ventus's friendships, his constantly calling Ventus "idiot", and forcing Ventus to fight him by threatening to kill Terra and Aqua after Ventus refused to.
Vanitas directly states his belief that he is the superior half of Ventus's heart. This extreme overconfidence in his abilities usually lead to his downfall as he underestimates his opponents when fighting.
The only time when Vanitas expressed genuine concern and fear is when he was defeated by Ventus for the final time. He began to panic and made a desperate attempt to grab the floating χ-blade in a hopeless flurry to hold onto his only way of salvation before dying. Vanitas's whole personality, while a great contrast with those of Sora, Ventus, Roxas, and all connected to him, was modeled by the tragedies in his past brought about by Master Xehanort's ambitions.
Being released from his prison for a reason unknown to him Vanitas is once more attempting to gain his salvation, he wants what Ventus has, he wants to fill the void he has within for good. However he feels he cannot complete that objective just yet and is willing to manipulate anyone and everyone even whoever he's working under to get what he desires. Feeling that 'The means justify the ends'. Due to Master Xehanort's lies and manipulation Vanitas no longer desires to give and take, he'll simply take and use people till there's nothing left.
Oddly he actually does have a small amount of caring but due to trust issues and the tragedies that have befallen him in his past? He's unlikely to show it to anyone unless he truly feels he can trust them.
Vanitas is what one might call egocentric perhaps even psychotic to a degree.
He's self absorbed, RARELY loyal to his peers or those who 'assume' he's their friend, he's not generous UNLESS he's getting something out of it. He's only concerned about those close to him mainly himself. Sadly Van is prone to bitterness, he can and WILL ignore the rights of others if he sees fit. He's competitive, controlling and always needs to have the upper hand in relationships. He can at times be vain and materialistic and he values individuality over loyalty. He's not afraid of conflict in fact it wouldn't be surprising to find him at the center of a fight. He also seems to believe that the benefits of freedom outweigh the benefits of attachment.
He'll rarely admit making mistakes and is careful about making promises because he doesn't like making them in the first place. Vanitas is blunt, suspicious of most people and he makes enemies very easily. Now given all of those bad traits he DOES have some good traits.
He's a person who's not easily hurt and CAN when he wants to fit in most places and groups of people. He's not easily moved to tears and he's a thrill seeker. Oddly he's relaxed most of the time and can actually let things wash over him like water off a ducks back. Though if he IS angered he WILL seek revenge and to a large degree even if it's over something petty.
If he actually believes in something or someone he's willing to take risks to make sure either they succeed or that the situation goes right. He's not embarrassed easily, not passionate about improving the world and a show off. He likes chaotic situations.

Weaknesses ►:
Magic Weakness -
Vanitas is rather weak against magic attacks, because he's a much more physical fighter than most.
Light attacks -
Vanitas is made of darkness. That means Light attacks WILL cripple him, lowering his speed and defense but not his strength.
Time based skills -
These will cripple his speed. Due to him being a quick on his feet type fighter he needs his speed. Without it his attacks and the like can be blocked easily. Slow will ALWAYS hit him without fail and Stop has a 50% chance of hitting him.

Abilities ►:
►Corridors of Darkness - Can be used to go from one place to another, though they aren't instantaneous and cannot be used in battle they can be used to move from one world to the next.
►Acrobatics - He is swift and agile, able to perform complicated and nearly impossible acrobatic feats such as jumping off of a high cliff while landing squarely on his feet, and even riding a cloud of flying Keyblades. However doing this it somewhat tiring. The only reason he's able to do this is because of the fact he needed to be able to do so when fighting to gain the upper hand so he's trained himself over time. Passive ability.
►Extreme Speed (Passive)- He can teleport or at least it looks like he's teleporting, in actual fact? He's moving so fast that it LOOKS like he's able to teleport behind opponents at high speeds to launch attacks, however while he does this he leaves after-images of himself to confuse opponents. If you're able to see past the after images then you'll be able to dodge the attack that's incoming while he's using this. It cannot be used constantly though and must have two posts between uses.
Auto-haste:- +1 extra move on bg, +1 combination slot in bg.
►Endurance (Passive) - Vanitas appears to have superhuman endurance, surviving his battles while taking little to no bodily damage, it almost seems like he's able to make instant recoveries. The only reason he's able to do this is due to the fact that he's an unversed and the darkness he's made of simply tries to heal the wounds caused to his body. He has an increased healing rate that's almost double what any normal human could withstand. However this does not mean he's invincible. Deal enough damage and the wounds WILL take time to heal. +5% HP recovery every three posts.
► Dark Cannon - Dark Cannon generates three crystals in a trigram formation which project rays that fuse and become a giant beam of dark energy. This can be easily dodged but if you take it head on it cannot be blocked.
High damage. Four time usage per thread. Four post cooldown.
► Energize - Vanitas can energize his weapons with dark energy, increasing his attack strength by 50% however it lowers his defense by the same amount. It stays on for the entire battle once used.
► Dark Flicker - An area attack where Vanitas almost instantly disappears for a fraction of a second and is back in position. Enemies don't even know it but during that fraction of a second Vanitas will have sped across and around the battle field slicing each and every one of them with his weapons. However pushing himself like that costs him part of his energy and he will be instantly slowed for a turn after it's use removing his auto-haste like ability for a turn, it may only be used when in a battle with two or more enemies. -20% Max HP damage to all enemies. Can be used twice in any one battle. Three post cool down between uses.

History ►:
Vanitas was made by Master Xehanort, however he was the darkness that was extracted from Ventus.
He began as nothing more than a faceless being, no different than a heartless, only he had more intelligence than a heartless. He did feel sorrow for his separation though over time that sorrow grew in to hatred and he began to consider that the one he was born from was weakness and was worthless to him. However in reality he knew that he was only half of something, not even that and he really hated himself for this weakness. It was because of all these feelings that he started to question why he was born, why he was made, what the purpose of his existence was and from these questions and feelings monsters were born.
He despised those monsters and the fact that they came from him.
He actually went as far as to kill them with the keyblade he possessed and in doing so he only caused himself physical pain, agony even.
When a newborn child's heart came in to contact with Ventus's fractured heart it also directly connected to Vanitas's heart, this faceless being felt extreme pain, falling away from reality to the ground that was wasteland and was close to the location of what's known as the keyblade graveyard. This pain was when Vanitas started to fall deeper in to darkness however he heard a voice in that darkness an echo almost, he also saw light in the darkness when he came too he now realized he had a normal face.
Vanitas didn't know if he could resist the urge to out rightly attack and possibly kill Ventus, because he actually feared this he told Xehanort who then took Ventus away to a distant place where Vanitas could not harm him since Ventus was to play a bigger role in Xehanort's plans. The only problem was that once Ventus was gone, Vanitas actually began to miss him, almost like a brother would miss their sibling if they were separated at such a young age. Because of this loneliness he wondered why he was separated from Ventus to begin with and this caused misery and depression for him.
More internal agony.
It was also at this time that he felt anxious, he didn't know what the future held for him, what would happen to him without Ventus? Would he be killed? Would he be left to wander alone? Why did he even exist? The problem with all of this was the more he thought about these questions, the more anxious, irritated, and lonely he felt. And the more he felt that, the more Unversed were created. Looking at the Unversed was like looking at his own weakness that he did not want to admit, so he started to kill them in a cycle of suffering that he could not escape.
The person that created him, Xehanort, simply watched Vanitas's attempts at freeing himself from this cycle and did nothing to help him. He just watched from afar as Vanitas's desperation to escape the pain and suffering grew. He was hurting himself, he didn't understand, he was too young to understand or even to know any other way to try and escape other than killing the monsters that spawned from his negativity. Mental and physical abuse and yet his creator didn't even bother to help him. It eventually reached the point that he couldn't take any more pain and he collapsed, in tears, feeling he was truly alone. It was only at that point that Xehanort went to him, only then that he knew the man was even there and it was also then that the man told him that the X-Blade was his only salvation and the key to leading him out of the pain, suffering and darkness and in to the light that he so greatly and desperately desired. It would unite him with Ventus and it was the only way for him to overcome his own fate, that wasn't his fault to begin with.
Thus began his quest to forge and become the X-Blade.
After training underneath Xehanort, and suffering even more he simply became a sidekick for lack of better words. A henchman even. After Xehanort watched Terra and Aqua fight, Vanitas comments that Ven's performance in it was weak and he needs to be broken in. Xehanort doesn't seem to care much about it and simply told him to do so elsewhere. The masked boy leaves his other half a reason to leave home, telling him that Ventus should follow to try and help before it was too late. Vanitas then went on to spread Unversed through different worlds in hopes of making Ventus stronger. A strange act for someone like him however he had his own ideals for it, he wanted Ventus to become strong so that he and Ventus actually had enough strength to forge the X-Blade.
It is in the keyblade graveyard after Ventus spots him on one of his ventures that Ventus attempts to interrogate him, failing miserably because Vanitas simply tells him the same thing as before. Vanitas also takes this chance to challenge Ventus and fight him, revealing to Ventus that he too is a keyblade wielder. The outcome of the battle wasn't in Ventus's favor as Vanitas easily overcame him and was much stronger than him. Vanitas also had the fact that he wasn't stupid and took the upperhand during the battle to sway the end results. It is then that Vanitas actually prepares to kill and destroy Ventus seeing him as worthless and of no use. However before he was able to do so an outside source comes in to defend Ventus thus saving his life. Vanitas leaves after stating that Ventus is on probation and doesn't look back.
More events take place as Vanitas continues his quest which also include fighting Aqua, and kidnapping Mickey Mouse. Again Vanitas has to battle Aqua, once more Vanitas encounters Ventus and Vanitas tells Ventus that he is finally strong enough to forge the X-Blade and join with him. Ven refuses, claiming that the blade cannot be forged if he doesn't fight and though Vanitas is enraged he remains calm, Vanitas explains his own origins to Ventus, revealing that he was born from Ven and how he took Ven's place as Xehanorts apprentice. Vanitas then proceeds to threaten the lives of Aqua and Terra to force Ventus to fight in order to create the X-Blade.
The trio of keyblade wielders then fight Vanitas and Xehnort in a final battle in the keyblade graveyard, it's an arduous and intense battle, Terra fights Xehanort and Vanitas is left to deal with Aqua and Ventus, he however returns to his masters side and freezes Ventus. It is now that he battles Terra along side Xehanort, and is then ordered to go after Aqua and Ventus. He attacks Aqua, knocking her unconscious and is about to kill her as Ventus is helplessly frozen. Ventus however thaws the ice and battles Vanitas beating him only to recieve compliments and also finally he gets to see Vanitas's face. He also learns that Vanitas is the king of the unversed and that all unversed come from him.
He takes Ventus to the Dive to the Heart, showing him two pillars, Vanitas also wields an incomplete X-Blade. He tells Ven that the union was incomplete and they only managed to make a small portion of the X-Blade. He attempts to join with Ven again, Ven refuses as per usual, and claims he will defeat Vanitas and destroy the X-Blade. Vanitas then confidently tells Ven that if the X-Blade is destroyed then Ventus's heart would vanish forever. Now Vanitas begins a final battle with Ven. While this battle ensues, the body that is left behind, Ventus-Vanitas attacks Aqua with the completed X-Blade. Aqua is saved by Mickey Mouse, Ven-Van goes on to tell he plans to unlock Kingdom Hearts so that all worlds are connected so that the legendary keyblade war may begin, this infuriates Aqua and she confronts him again.
Ven-Van is defeated and the X-Blade is destroyed and it is thought that Vanitas is completely destroyed as the pillar in the Dive in the Heart that he and Ventus are on is destroyed. He makes a desperate grab for the X-Blade before he vanishes. All Unversed are taken with him and for the last few years Vanitas's power and he himself have been locked away, sealed to forever be in eternal darkness and forever alone...
He wasn't expecting to be woken, nor did he expect that he'd ever be able to roam freely again. So he was actually somewhat relieved that he was able to escape. The only problem is that now he's in a completely different world to what he remembers. He has however realized he's able to create dark corridors still and he will use them where necessary.
He still intends to find salvation, however he's unsure of how to do so now.
