With azure-colored eyes awakening that morning, Rin woke up to yet another day of his supposed greatest challenge that was given to him by his ever shifty headmaster. However, the greatest challenge he'd had so far was merely making his way in this new world. And so, be that it may, Rin found himself waking up to the shouting of his new job supervisor. "Get out of bed you lazy-ass kid!" Rin had heard this greeting every day for probably the last week or so, ever since he applied for a job at a local café. With a grumble and a fuss, Rin eventually aroused himself out of the makeshift bed that he had made in the storage room of the café, and ran a hand through his messy hair and wiped the morning dew from his eyes. It was time for another day of work at this part-time job. Letting out a yawn and flashing his supervisor five fingers, which had become a regular translation between them for five minutes until i'm ready, he began to clamber around the storage room for his clothes. As he began to throw on his work outfit, which consisted of his regular clothes and an apron tossed in front, he thought back to the events that happened this week. To start with, he'd been told by his headmaster that by coming here, he'd gain a better understanding of his powers, which hasn't happened in the least yet. To be honest, he hadn't even shown anybody anything that would even indicate that he had any powers, or wasn't human. He'd learned how to keep his demonic nature hidden more or less by hiding his tail in his pants, which caused an uncomfortable pain from time to time but was nothing he couldn't handle. Secondly, he'd figured out the situation here and was skeptical about it at first, but after meeting a lot of people who said they were in the same boat, he was hesitant to believe it was all a lie. Supposedly people here were being summoned as champions for various reasons by the Gods. This was something Rin didn't share with them though, as he'd entered this place of his own volition. He wondered if in time, he too, might meet one of these Gods. It didn't particularly matter which one, but he'd like to meet one. Thirdly, He'd quickly realized that the little money and things he brought with him wouldn't last (considering his money wasn't even good here in the first palce) so he had been wandering around the place as a bum until a girl took him to this café he was now working under. A random girl was nice enough to pay for his meal, but she gave him a reality shock that Rin took personally. "You'd best find a job and support yourself, before people here begin to dislike you." She'd said to him, and it made Rin begin to think heavily about how he'd support himself here. With that thought, he tossed an application towards the café and was surprised to be called in for an interview moments later. For now, that was his story. He'd worked out an agreement with the store owner to allow him to stay in the storage area of the café because he was pretty much homeless, and would work off his living expenses through his job. So with an apron tied cleanly around himself, and a spatula in one hand, Rin had now become a part-time cook at the café, and was doing a job that he enjoyed very much. He'd always loved cooking, and this was the chance he was looking for to show off what he could do to people. The work hours flew by everyday, and as Rin looked up to see the clock the first time that day, he was already at his closing time. He'd put some things aside for a moment and stepped outside of the kitchen area and into the café itself, tossing his apron idly on one of the tables and sat down in a chair comfortably. "Phew... That was a pretty brutal morning shift..." He'd mused to himself tiredly, fanning himself by flapping the collar of his shirt repeatedly. He took a glance around at some of the other people who were in just casually snacking. The thought of champions returning to him, he wondered if any of them were stuck in this conflict like he was. He could never really tell who was one and who wasn't. He wasn't worried about it right now though, as he leaned back in his chair feeling bored. What was really on his mind was what was he going to do for most of the afternoon? He finally had some money in his pocket from working, but he didn't quite know anywhere to go around this place. What's more, he still needed to pay back that one chick who'd paid for his lunch earlier this week, as it was nagging him in the back of his mind. With his head spinning with thoughts, Rin merely let out a sigh, contemplating what to do next. |
