The Beginning
It is said that the Creator as they called it, the one that made the universes, created the Gods.
Light and Darkness - Always bound with their opposition. These were the first two created.
Life and Death - The second Gods but with nothing to give life too or take life from they were simply alone with their elders.
Time and Space - The third that were born from creation. Twins, and rivals constantly attempting to steal one anothers power.
These beings were bored with nothing to do but roam endless nothingness. Until more Gods and Goddesses were born, the creator saw fit to give them jobs.
Wind, Water, Fire and Earth. The means to actually make something. Then came the thought processes that lead to creating world upon world. The combined efforts to make themselves something to call home. During this Ice was born, along with Beasts. The youngest Gods to have been made. Somewhere in the fray others were created. Chaos, Memories, Wisdom, Peace, Love, Medicine and Truth.
Once they all created what they felt was enough to satisfy the beasts, humans and other races they created, they left it well enough alone, watching as they governed as the fates and watched in curiosity.
Some spent their time among the things which they had created. Some closed themselves off in their own personal sanctuaries. Others simply stayed watching.
The Gods became bored and lazy and as something called cycles started on a different world to their own they did nothing they merely watched.
The Cycles
These cycles began in World A, when Chaos, a sentient Manikin created by scientists with the help of another scientist named Cid, was taken away to be used as a weapon of war. To force Chaos into obeying, they created another sentient Manikin resembling Cid's wife, known as Cosmos, to take charge of him.
Through the wars he was put through, Chaos eventually became hateful. When Cid and his wife attempted to rescue Chaos, Cid's wife was killed. This caused Chaos to snap, his power caused an opening in the Interdimensional Rift that sucked him, Cid, and Cosmos into a place simply known as World B.
The rift that had sucked them all to World B left them stranded there, so a dragon named Shinryu who'd seen them arrive offered them a deal.
Shinryu is a power hungry being who just wanted more power. He even wanted Chaos' powers for his own, so he told them if they made a pact with him then he would find them a way home. The pact was made because all three, Chaos, Cosmos and Cid agreed to it. Chaos and Cosmos gained the ability to summon warriors from other worlds to battle each other until one side lost.
Cid, being human unlike the other two was turned immortal to act as an observer, at the cost of losing his physical body.
The powers of all the fallen warriors would in turn be absorbed by Shinryu as payment for the pact. The cycle would then repeat, with the warriors' memories of the last cycle wiped clean. This process would gradually give Chaos the power to finally open a portal back to World A because Shinryu would share some of the power he gained from the cycles with Chaos.
The true Gods thought this was interesting and watched the cycles continue.
Shinryu is a large problem, a threat to existence as a whole. He intends to wipe out all life throughout multiverses and begin his own, where he reigns as the supreme God.
The true Gods are now trying to put a stop to the cycles, to stop anymore bloodshed for a pointless cause and also to stop Shinryu from gaining more power. They also intend to end Shinryu and stop him before he can destroy anymore worlds.
