General Personality ►:
Motoko Kusanagi is an extremely complex being, sometimes it's hard to differentiate between a human soul and a machine. It's exceptionally difficult when she asks certain questions that an adult 'human' being should already know. So it's a little hard for some people to tell if she's a human or a machine.
Given that she DID have a human body and was once a child, she definitely has a human soul but it's sometimes hard for others to understand her.
Often she can be rather dark and brooding, pondering over the reasons to life and existence. She even questions her own humanity on a regular basis and her abilities. Even though she is confident that she is enough to get a job done she still wonders about if her abilities are actually dehumanizing and that perhaps if she stays away from humanity for too long, then she will become detached from them and her own emotions and soul forever.
Even when she cares about someone she attempts to keep them at arms length if possible because she understands that her own personality and her duties as a major can push people away and make a relationship almost impossible to keep. Thus to save herself and the other pain she attempts to keep them at a rather professional distance from herself. Though she isn't above flirting or even sexual only relationships since then it's simply for the fun of it and there is no real caring there. So she doesn't need to worry about things becoming difficult.
When around those she has a connection too and sees on a regular basis, she has a rather humorous out take on things, she also is rather lively and can even be extremely charming and supporting of her peers. Especially Togusa, since he was hand picked by her to join the section nine team. She has a way of being blunt and too the point with adults and she doesn't show much mercy when faced with an objective and having to kill others to get it accomplished. Because she knows that the needs of the many often more than not out weigh the needs of the few. So a handful of criminals to save hundreds in a hotel is nothing to her. It's all in a days work and she will shoot to kill if necessary.
The Major as she's often referred to has a compelling drive to understand the way things work. She's very good at logical analysis, and likes to use it on practical concerns. Whether it's for her job or even for her personal life. She typically has strong powers of reasoning and she's able to weight the pros and cons of things often basing a conclusion on it, although she's often disinterested in theories or concepts unless she can see a practical application.
Some might say that Motoko has an adventuresome spirit, she'll try anything once just to say she's done it and she actually likes to scuba dive. She seems to be attracted to motorcycles, airplanes, sky diving, surfing, etc and thrives on action, she's usually fearless. Motoko is fiercely independent, needing to have the space to make her own decisions about her next steps in her personal life and she seems to dislike it when people 'fawn' over her or try to keep her safe as she feels she's more than capable of doing that herself.
Motoko doesn't really believe in or follow rules and regulations, as this would prohibit her ability to "do her own thing". Her sense of adventure and desire for constant action makes her exceptionally prone to becoming bored rather quickly. This is why she loves the net, in her spare time she'll often be found amusing herself by scanning the net as the net is vast and infinite and there's always something to keep her amused. Her proneness to becoming bored is also a reason to why her relationships either don't last or end sooner rather than later. She always needs something to keep her amused or interested or she'll move on to the next interesting thing.
Motoko is loyal to her causes and beliefs, and she's a firm believer that people should be treated with equity and fairness. Although she does not have much respect the rules of the "System", she will follow her own rules and guidelines for behavior faithfully. She can be depended on not to take part in something which violates her own personal laws. She is also extremely faithful and loyal to her co-workers in section nine, often keeping an eye on them from the shadows to make sure that they're safe, even if it means that she has to rush in at the last second to save their asses.
She likes and needs to spend time alone, because this is when she can sort things out in her mind most clearly. She absorbs large quantities of impersonal facts from the external world, and sorts through those facts, making judgments, when she's alone or on a basis of she needs to at that moment in time.
Adaptable and spontaneous, she tends to respond to what is immediately before her. She has strong technical skills, and is an effective technical leader which is why she's in the position she's in. She focuses on details and practical things and has an excellent sense of expediency and grasp of the details which enables her to make quick, effective decisions in a time of crisis. She's also a very capable leader due to the fact that she avoids making judgments based on personal values - she feels that judgments and decisions should be made impartially, based on the fact. Sadly sometimes she's not naturally tuned in to how she's affecting others. She also does not pay attention to her own feelings, and even distrusts them sometimes, opting to try to ignore them, because she may have difficulty distinguishing between emotional reactions and value judgments.
Motoko has an uncanny ability to perceive people's attitudes and motivations. She tends to pick up on little cues which go completely unnoticed by most other people, such as facial expressions and stance. Usually she's a couple of steps ahead of the person she's interacting with. The only problem is that she tends to use this ability to get what she wants out of a situation. Rules and laws are seen as guidelines for behavior, rather than mandates. When she's decided that something needs to be done, her "do it and get on with it" attitude takes precedence over the rules.
Major Kusanagi has a deep dislike to see mistakes repeated, and has no patience with inefficiency which is why she makes sure all her co-workers are up to speed and standard. She also hand picks those who enter section nine because it's easier to work that way. However she may become quite harsh when her patience is tried in these respects, because she's not naturally tuned in to people's feelings.
Yet with children, who expose her soft spot she is a maternal person, she can be very protective and she's very supportive of children. Often she'll sit and listen to what they have to say. Offering them sound advice and words of wisdom but toned down so that they understand what she means.

Weapons ►:
CZ 100
Motoko and the other members of Section Nine carry CZ 100 handguns, but again, they are only loosely based on the actual CZ 100, as the sides of the slide are squared off while the real model features bevelings on the slide. She also refers to it as a Zastava, confusing the CZ acronym of the former Yugoslavian gun making firm Crvena Zastava with the CZ of the real gun's manufacturer, Ceska Zbrojovka Uhersky Brod. +50 damage per round that hits an enemy.
CZN-M22
Motoko Kusanagi carries a fictional Crvena Zastava Nosle M22, a fictional submachine gun conceptually based on the FN P90 (and chambered in the same 5.7x28mm SS190 round) The CZN-22's lower portion resembles the FN F2000, taking the bottom loading bullpup system rather than the top loading system of the actual FN P90. The case in which she carries the weapon contains accessories including a sling, a bayonet, a sound suppressor and 40mm grenade launcher which replaces the foregrip.
- 40mm Grenades - She can carry up to four at any one time, for use with the CZN-M22 +200 damage (Area) when it hits an enemy.
Seburo M5
One of the trademark weapons for the series is the fictitious Seburo M5, a compact semiautomatic SA/DA concealed-carry handgun (with a total barrel length of 3.5 inches) that uses a locked-breech operating via a rotating barrel (a system similar to the Beretta Cougar). It is chambered for 5.45x18mm round, and feeds from a double-stack magazine with a total capacity of 19+1 rounds. The M5 is the standard sidearm for Section 9 operatives, and is also seen in the hands of various other law enforcement agencies. It's also Motoko's favored handgun at the current time. +50 damage per round that hits an enemy.
Seburo C30
The Seburo C30 is a variant of the C26A designed for overtly offensive missions. It is built around a C26A receiver and features an added optical sight, underbarrel grenade launcher and extended barrel with jacketing. It is seen covered with a jacket with a brass catcher. It is first seen in episode 13 during Section 9's raid on a ex-offshore radiation scrubber plant turned New World Brigade base.
Seburo Sniper Rifle
This bolt-action .50 BMG rifle first appears during the opening sequence in the pilot episode where Saito is briefly seen covering Motoko with it. The rifle is most prominently featured in episode 21 when a battle damaged Motoko snags it from Saito and proceeds to pummel round after round into a MSDF Type 303 mech at point blank range. While missing one arm, no less. Can fire two - three rounds per combination slot during a battle grid when used, +300 damage per round that hits a target. Takes one post to reload.
M67 fragmentation grenade
She carries six of these in any one thread. Once they're gone, they're gone. These grenades cover two squares in all directions around the target. They also deal 40% HP damage to the center of the blast anything on the outskirts will take 25% HP damage. Throwing one takes up two action slots during a battle grid.
History ►:
Motoko Kusanagi was born to two loving parents and she lived rather contently with those parents until the age of six. She was travelling with her parents when the plane they were in started experiencing technical difficulties and in retrospect it crashed, everyone save for a six year old Motoko and a young boy survived the crash however Motoko suffered the worst injuries out of the two.
She was put in to a coma.
Where as the young boy simply lost the use of his body save for his left hand Motoko was dying. It was deemed that without undergoing an operation to make her a fully cybernetic person she would ultimately die and because she was unconscious and a child without parents to consent because they were dead she didn't have the choice whether she was to go under the operation. It was done for her regardless.
Once she got her cybernetic body and was conscious, she went to visit that boy, he made paper cranes for her while she was in a coma and even though she told him who she was? He refused to believe her, she even went to lengths to try and make paper cranes with him but because she didn't have proper control of her body she was clumsy and unskilled.
She carried on visiting that boy but he still refused to accept that she was whom she claimed to be so she eventually left him saying she would practice and then she'd make paper cranes for him instead.
Now her real journey began.
It was from that day and due to all of those events that she practiced with her body, learning how to work it to an advanced degree and quickly. Though even after the accident and her learning how to finally control her body she wasn't going to have life easy. Not at all. Being an orphan doesn't get you very far in life, she was fostered by a woman and a man who didn't really like or appreciate her talents.
She'd already learned how to hack in to her schools main computers at the age of ten. Only a mere four years after having gotten her cybernetic body. However, after doing this a few times she was caught, thankfully because she was just a child she was let off and was told it was illegal but now her actions were being... Watched.
Since her foster parents couldn't handle her ever growing rebellious nature she was sent to military school at the age of thirteen and would spend the majority of five years there, in those five years she learned quickly how to get a control over her own emotions and behavior. Quickly she matured and along with her maturity came her improvements with her skills and ability to use cybernetics to it's fullest.
When she was eighteen she was given a choice.
She could leave military school and find her own way in the world, though Motoko knew that this would end up leading to her having to pay for a cybernetic body for herself which she couldn't afford. Or the alternative was to actually join the military. She obviously opted for the second choice since it meant she could get a cybernetic body on the military pay grade for free. It would give her the necessary time to save enough cash to be able to afford to have her body tuned and accustomed to her.
She was expecting an exceptionally dull life style. She was wrong. Well and truly wrong. She never expected to be recruited at the tender age of twenty only two years after joining the military in to section 9, a very specialized unit of military personnel. However what she actually did to gain such a promotion from being a simply military cyborg to being part of a highly trained unit is unknown and there are no records of it. Some may speculate that it was her unique hacking skills that made her so valuable and her attitude when in control of a situation. However it still remains a mystery.
For the past ten - eleven years she's been working with section 9, she's run in to many problems, taken rash decisions, put herself willingly in the line of fire to protect those around her and has even gone as far as to use her own team mates and peers as 'bait' to lure in suspects saving them at the last minute.
The only thing that has surprised her now is the fact that the whole world was attacked by a terrorist or what she thought to be a terrorist organization. Reports came up from all over the world that black creatures with yellow eyes were the cause of all the terrorist attacks that happened in less than twenty four hours. She didn't have time to react to things before the net all over the world went down, she couldn't even use satelite tracking and then everything went black.
Only to wake up in foreign worlds, wary and cold towards most that she doesn't know since any single one of them could be a suspect in the case of everything that's happened in such a short amount of time.
For everything else there's the wiki. However I am leaving out the games and solid state society since those are not going to be relevant to her here.
