Before the war with Bevelle, Shuyin was a rather charismatic person, it earned him the respect of his fans and also a very large fanbase as a Blitzball player. Being famous didn't go to his head and he was a rather generous and also a rather happy person. However all of that changed for the worst.

He absolutely detested conflict, and the fact that the love of his life, Lenne was being forced to go to the front lines of war because she was a summoner pushed him over the edge. He became impulsive, stubborn and extremely angry all of that combined with his will power and his need to win twisted him rapidly.

He will stop at nothing to protect Lenne.

When he becomes angry there's only one person he'll listen too and that person is Lenne.

Deep down, Shuyins intentions are usually what he thinks is the right thing to do, but failing Lenne drove him mad after he died and she wasn't there with him. His negative destructive thoughts were so strong at this point that it prevented him from fading away completely. His emotions slowly prevailed over reason, they blinded him and lead him astray. Despair, anger and regret tormented him in the afterlife, pyreflies repeatedly made him remember his last painful moments. He found himself alone, being unsent for over one thousand years, with the guilt for his failure always burning.

Shuyin became nothing more than a shadow, wandering in the darkness, desperately looking for his lost love. However, after over one thousand year wandering on Spira amongst the living, he saw nothing had changed. This only fueled his rage because Lennes death and his own was for nothing. Absolutely nothing. Nothing had changed and it tore him apart.

Now revived and living again his search for Lenne has begun a new and he's still extremely angry, though with life some of his sanity has been restored. He's trying to control himself better than he did before but, he's got a habit from all those years, he tends to say the wrong thing at the wrong time or say the wrong thing without thinking about it.

He can and will be as civil as possible but if pushed he won't hesitate to either lash out with words or physically. Generally however he will try not too if only because he knows if Lenne finds out, she probably wouldn't approve. He's also extremely wary and suspicious of people.

Now he walks the worlds unsure as to how, since he's supposed to be dead. His spirit was restless, after Lenne had been brought back his spirit followed shortly after, breaking the bonds of both death and time to be with her again. He cannot remember the struggle but it took him a short time to follow her. Determined to protect her he feels now that he has to find her and keep her safe. So that's exactly what he's going to do and if they have to return to Spira together? If he has too he will go and find the remains of Vegnagun and rebuild the doomsday device to destroy that entire world just for her. Too keep her safe. No more war. No more pain and he'll stay right beside her as the world comes crashing down around them.
